Working Sussex Spaniels

Most of the breed has retained its ‘natural hunting ability’. Owners swear by this hardy and reliable gundog, preferring its steady method and good nose, to other breeds. With careful training they usually hunt well and make a useful addition to the beating line. In recent years quite a few have been successful in Field Trials.

The SSA encourages as many owners to get their dual-purpose Sussex Spaniels out working and be seen by the shooting community as possible.

Training days and opportunities are listed on the What’s On page and on the members’ Facebook page.
