The Bryn Shoot was a super location in the Welsh hills; sheep country with Larch woods and some cover crops. We pretty well had ideal weather, mild and dry with a good breeze. The judges commented at the close, that the standard was much improved and they were particularly impressed with their winners retrieves. Our thanks to the judges and to our Patron Lady Trevor who came to watch and gave out the Prizes. We'd also like to thank all the Competitors for supporting the Trial, and for their sportsmanship. As always amongst the Minor Breed supporters there was some good friendly rivalry and everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves.
Thanks to the Guns; Tony Wickenden, Jim Wilkins, Chris Hastings, John Appleby, and Mr Parfitt.
Thanks also go to our Sponsors Gilbertson & Page who donated large bags of Dog Food for each Winner.

The Pigeon Shooting Weekend 9-11 February 2007
Unfortunately
the only weekend when snow came down and settled. This put a few people off who
had said they would come, but a few diehards faced snow drifts and ice to attend
the weekend. There were six of us on the Friday night roost shooting to
hopefully get cold game for training on Saturday .The birds were not in the
usual abundance for this time of year so only five were shot. It was a good job
Jonathan and Louise brought some pheasants with them .Our wonderful hosts Liz
and Ken did us proud with a hot evening meal with much wine and banter in to the
early hours with Dee Ashcroft arriving after a frightful journey to mop up the
wine.
In
the morning the rest of the diehards arrived two Field Spaniels two Clumbers and
seven Sussex made up the Trainees. We started in the indoor area due to the
miserable weather with basic training followed by hot soup and rolls and more.
Again thanks to Liz and Ken for all there hard work.
The
afternoon started with a hunt up with cold game to retrieve (and it was cold)
The boys went back to the Woods for the afternoon flight and after a little more
practice the trainees who were staying went up to hopefully retrieve freshly
shot game. The guns were obviously in to nature conservation that evening as the
only thing shot was a squirrel, and the dogs did not get a retrieve but the
ladies had plenty to tease the men that evening a little more subdued than
Friday night but good fun all the same.
On
Sunday after breakfast I held a one to one training for those who wanted it
which was all who stayed giving a demonstration with my puppy of what they
should expect from there dogs. It was nice to see new faces Training their
Sussex Katherine, Will, Paul and Dee.
All
seemed to enjoy the weekend with requests and suggestions for future events.

It was a very hot day, however most dogs
worked well, although we had one or two run in and spoil an otherwise good
performance. We work straight through in view of the heat and finished the day
in good time. Awards were made and both Wendy and Bill gave us words of
encouragement.
